Houston Alumni 2.0
In spring 2006, the Association of Rice Alumni launched a new group for Houston alumni who graduated between 1980 and 1996: Houston Alumni 2.0 ("2.0" for short). This group is designed to meet the needs of alumni who no longer fit in the Houston Young Alumni demographic but still would like to socialize with their Rice peers. The group intends to expand to cater to alumni 10–30 years post-graduation.
The initial, "test-the-water" event was a reception held on February 27, 2006, prior to a lecture by Eric Schlosser, best-selling author of Fast Food Nation. Held in the Rice Memorial Center in conjunction with the President's Lecture Series, the event was a resounding success, attracting more than 150 alumni who enjoyed drinks, gourmet appetizers, and great conversation.
Houston Alumni 2.0 is led by a steering committee that seeks to provide 6–8 events per year that target the interests of our demographic: lectures, cultural events, social events, Rice sports gatherings, family-friendly activities and any other requested events. All will provide a venue for alumni to reconnect with Rice friends.
Interested in joining the steering committee? New members are always welcome! We would like to have at least one person from each graduating class. Please contact committee chair Mitra Miller Roehr '93.

Most 2.0 event announcements will be sent via email, so we need your address in order to keep you informed!
"Interested Parties" listserv
Alumni who graduated between 1980 and 1996 should automatically receive our announcements. (If not, see above!) But if you fall outside that range and are interested in our events, we've created a listserv just for you.
