The Rice Austin Parents Group is pleased to invite you to the Rice Parents Spring Potluck dinner.

Our special guest will be Tom Kolditz, the founding Director of the Doerr Institute for New Leaders! The Doerr Institute was founded with the strategic aim of transforming how students are developed as leaders, and Rice has committed to the proposition that all of its 6,200 graduate and undergraduate students should be offered a compelling, professionally-executed leader development experience of a scope and scale unprecedented among major universities. Prior to Rice, Professor Kolditz was a professor at Yale, taught at West Point for 12 years, and is a retired brigadier general. He has presented leadership content to more than 200 governmental, corporate, and social sector audiences worldwide.

Additionally, Barbara and Sam live on an ecological rich site with a canyon, springs, and rare plants. The site is on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Springs registry, the Wildflower Center is using it for seed collection, and Rice Earth Science professor, Andre Doxler has brought his students there. If you would like a tour, arrive at 4:30pm and bring walking shoes.
