A successful regional group should include the following:
Active Volunteer Leadership:

A consistent group of volunteers who meet at least once a year |

A plan for recruiting, training, and incorporating new volunteers |

A sense of accountability to ensure programs are carried out effectively |
Effective Programming:

Programming that supports university priorities and initiatives |

Events with a positive impact for Rice University and its various constituents |
 |
Efficient planning well in advance, followed by successful implementation |
 |
Timely reporting on the success of events |
Comprehensive Communication:

Consistent contact with alumni office staff throughout the year and while planning specific programs |
 |
Consistent communication among regional group volunteers |
 |
Effective and timely program publicity (mailings, email, and the alumni website) in coordination with alumni office staff |
Analysis:

 |
Thoughtful analysis of each event |
 |
(At least) annual analysis of ongoing regional efforts when planning for the coming year |
