HANDBOOK: How do I start a regional group?
The alumni association provides programs and services to alumni communities around the world, but we often rely on local volunteers to initiate programs and tailor events in each area.
So, how do you start a regional alumni group?
First, ask yourself some key questions:
Is there a need for a full regional group program in my area? Determine the size of your local alumni population to see if your area can support regular alumni programming. If not, never fear! There are other options for you.
Am I excited about fulfilling the mission of the Association of Rice Alumni in my area? Regional group leaders must invest time and energy in programming that will serve a wide range of alumni interests. Fortunately, you won't be working alone. The expert staff in the alumni office provide the resources you need!
Are there other alumni in my area who could take on a leadership role? Healthy regional groups combine the energy and talents of multiple alumni leaders and continually incorporate new volunteers. Visit the online directory to search for Owls in your area. Contact the alumni office if you need assistance in finding additional leaders. |
When you have answered these questions, contact the alumni office for more information on how to start a regional group in your area.
