Business networking happens anywhere, anytime; and you never know how starting a conversation with someone can open doors and opportunities for both parties involved. Join us for a presentation on effective networking tips and etiquette to help you create strong business connections and put your best foot forward.

Guest speaker Sonia Garza-Monarchi '86 is recognized as one of the foremost protocol experts. She began her career with the Houston International Protocol Alliance, the city's official protocol organization. Ms. Garza-Monarchi has consulted on protocol and cross-cultural issues with a variety of corporations and organizations including Coca-Cola, Duke Energy, Saudi Aramco, M.D. Anderson, and the Four Seasons Hotel and has offered courses on protocol through Rice University's Continuing Studies Program. In 2004, she established Garza Protocol Associates, LLC a protocol consulting company.

This event is co-sponsored with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Rice University Chapter.

Tequila Tasting

José-Pablo Fernández, an avid tequila aficionado and former executive director of the Mexican Institute of Greater Houston, will give a presentation on the history of tequila. Learn about everything from agaves to the distillation process to the myths that surround this exotic liquor. Proceeds from the tasting will benefit the SOLAR scholarhip program. Door prizes will be awarded.

A Latina composer and concert pianist, Frank will discuss her travels through the Andean countries and play pieces from "La Llorona," her new work to be performed by the Houston Symphony in February.

Complimentary tickets for the Houston Symphony's three performances of "La Llorona" will be given as door prizes. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP to SOLAR by Friday, February 16.
