My Story: Tours of Houston's vibrant culinary scene

From Lauren Barrash '08 -- I graduated in 2008 from the Jones School & started The Wave, a jitney shuttle bus company, in 2009. Once people started to get comfortable with a transportation provider outside of their own cars, they started requesting us do other things like holiday lights tours, brewery tours, etc.

In 2015, I took over Visit Houston's Culinary Chef Led Tours. Each month we have at least one tour, and they typically sell out within minutes. They are amazing and unique culinary experiences led by the awesome chefs in Houston. From that, we have now received a grant to help market all of our tours outside Houston, helping bring people here. We now have Get Crafty Tours every third Saturday of the month, Streets of Houston tours (street art and street food) launching on the second Saturday of the month, and several other culinary tours and experiences.

These tours have been incredible and made me believe we have a unique and incredible culinary scene in Houston filled with chefs who are as much entrepreneurs and Houston enthusiasts as they are creative chefs.
