Encouraging Excellence

Recognize
and promote students, faculty, staff, and alumni
who have achieved the highest levels of personal,
professional, and civic excellence, and who have
contributed to the success of Rice University. |

Recognize undergraduate and graduate students for
excellence. |

A. Recognize
students annually through the Sallyport awards. |
| |
B. Enhance the distinction,
prestige, and purpose of the Sallyport Award.

| II.
Recognize outstanding alumni, faculty/staff, and
friends for significant accomplishments. |
| |
A. Award the
Gold Medal, Distinguished Alumni, and Meritorious
Service awards annually through the ARA
Honors Program.
B. Increase the number of underrepresented alumni
in the pool of award candidates.
C. Recognize alumni who have made significant achievements
but may not receive the distinction of an award.
D. Research a new award category and/or a more formal
way to recognize organizations, friends, and others
who contribute to Rice's success. |
