ARA Strategic Plan
Lifelong Learning
 |
Provide programs
and resources that encourage alumni to pursue continued
education throughout their lives. |
 |
Create a symbiotic
relationship between alumni and faculty. |
| I.
Educational Programs |
| |
A. Provide
opportunity for alumni to continue lifelong educational
aspirations through Rice's existing
programs by building awareness of university resources. |
| |
| |
1. Provide
world-class scholars through the President.s
Lecture Series, the James A. Baker Institute
for Public Policy, and other on-campus programs
for the broader community, giving preference
to alumni.
2. Identify, market, and perhaps expand new
and/or existing university partnerships to
provide continuing
educational opportunities (i.e., Jesse H.
Jones Graduate School of Management, Baker
Institute).
3. Explore, expand, and identify new and/or
existing partnerships with the School of Continuing
Studies and other departments.
4. Work with academic deans to identify seminars
and conferences in which existing and expanded
alumni events could be conducted as joint
ventures with the ARA. |
|
| |
B. Provide
opportunity for alumni to continue their lifelong
educational and leadership aspirations through ARA-created
programs. |
| |
| |
1. Build
an electronic learning platform to expand
educational learning opportunities, such as
live webcasts and online book clubs.
2. Enhance Alumni College programs in Houston
to bring alumni back to campus from Houston,
throughout the country, and around the world.
3. Provide an Alumni College format with enough
flexibility to be taken to geographically
distributed alumni communities outside of
Houston.
4. Explore, research, and determine potential
additional alumni participation in a one-day,
Houston-specific Alumni College, possibly
at homecoming.
5. Explore joint ventures with other universities,
as well as with Rice alumni at other universities,
to produce Alumni College programs on the
road.
6. Continue providing a travel program that
offers domestic and international educational
opportunities.
7. Work with Resource Development to evolve
the Alumni Leadership Conference by identifying
the ideal frequency, program content, and
overall attendee makeup. |
|
| |
| II.
Professional Development |
| |
A. Research
benchmark programs nationally to identify professional
development services other universities provide
their alumni.
B. Provide professional development and networking
programs that can be used by alumni in collaboration
with Career Services.
C. Utilize new technology to expand professional
development opportunities for alumni through programs
such as online mentoring/coaching and online skill
enhancement. |
