2005 Travel/Study Photo
Contest
Congratulations to Mary Kay Manning Smith ’62,
whose Mykonos Moment was awarded "Best of
Show" in the 2005 Rice Alumni Travel/Photo Contest.
Smith will receive two certificates totaling $500 to
apply toward future travel with the Rice
Alumni Travel/Study Program. Judges awarded "Honorable
Mention" to a second photo by Smith, and to entries
from Rice parent and traveler Susan Myrick, and
alumni Joe Hess ’68, Philip Seeger ’58,
and Frank Shelden ’48. Congratulations to
all winners, and our thanks to all who entered our inaugural
photo contest.
Photos will be on display at a reception and silent
auction honoring all finalists in the 6th Annual
International Programs Photo Contest (including
both student and alumni entries), to be held on campus
on Monday, March 21. Photos will remain on display
in Farnsworth Pavilion (in the Ley Student Center) through
April 15. Proceeds from the auction benefit Rice
International Programs. Reprints of winning photos--in
both the alumni and student categories--may also be
purchased online through the International Programs
website.
If you will be traveling with the Rice Alumni Travel/Study
Program this year, don’t forget that future photo
contests run on a calendar-year basis. Entries for our
2006 contest—for which only photos from 2005 trips
are eligible—will be due at the end of January
