Center for Student Professional
Development Internships & Recruiting
How many Rice alumni and students
work at your organization? Could there be more? If you know
of employment opportunities or internships in your company
or career field, the Center for Student Professional Development
(CSPD) wants to hear from you! Perhaps you're in a position
to hire, or can help Rice set up a closer working relationship
with your company. Email the CSPD
to help pave the way for the next generation of Rice alumni.

Jones
Graduate School Alumni Association
The JGSAA provides alumni with opportunities
to stay involved through service on the Jones School's standing
committees, advising students on career paths, participating
in mock interviews to polish their skills, and providing telephone
follow-up to recruit prospective students.
The Jones Leaders is a volunteer
organization established as an extension of the JGSAA Board
to further the schools vision and mission. Key objectives
of the Jones Leaders include reconnecting a broader group
of alumni to the Jones Graduate School, providing a vehicle
to grow the schools reputation and communicate the schools
message, equipping a stable of volunteers for service projects,
and supplying a potential pool for future board members.
If you have questions on becoming
active in either the JGSAA or the Jones Leaders, contact Shaheen
Ladhani '97, associate director of alumni affairs for
the Jones School, at 713-348-4489.

Jones
Partners
The Jones Partners organization promotes
activities that help the Jones
Graduate School of Business attract business leaders and
students who are capable of making substantial contributions
as future business leaders. The Partners need people to volunteer
to be on their board, and to participate in the committees
needed to set up and implement events. For more information
contact Delma
Esparza.

Leadership
Rice
Be a mentor as part of Leadership
Rice's Summer Mentorship Experience or help
identify great mentorship opportunities. Leadership Rice serves
students from all years and all majors, and seeks a wide array
of placements both nationally and internationally. Each student
chosen to participate in Leadership Rice is placed in a full-time,
paying, eight-week mentorship. What distinguishes Leadership
Rice mentorships from other internships is the preparation
Leadership Rice provides, the ongoing contact Leadership Rice
maintains with its students during the summer, and the presence
of a mentor who commits to help the student stretch and grow
during the summer.
In addition, Leadership Rice students,
from time to time, need mentors in
specific content areas. Those working on Envision
Grants need community mentors to help them develop strategic
plans. Students in our leadership
course who write Strategic Vision Papers also need contact
with community resources.
Our Web
site provides more detail, including specific
information about the mentorship experience.

Rice Business
Networking
Formed to facilitate networking activities
among Houston-area alumni, the RBN provides opportunities
for networking through monthly gatherings, offers educational
programing, and publishes a networking directory of its members.
All programs and activities are volunteer-driven, and the
route to involvement is through membership. Contact Karl
Maier for more information.

Rice
Engineering Alumni (REA)
The Rice Engineering Alumni (REA)
are dedicated to providing support to the George
R. Brown School of Engineering and providing networking
opportunities for Rice engineering alumni. Through student
scholarships, recognition of outstanding engineering alumni
and a variety of other programs, the REA also promotes interaction
between engineering alumni and the Brown School faculty and
students. Formed in 1938, the REA is Rice's oldest alumni
organization.
The REA board is a group of 24–25 engineering alumni from various class
years and disciplines. Members serve for four years. They
meet once a
month and members serve on at least one of the following committees:
student awards and chapters, publicity, alumni involvement
and membership, the Outstanding Engineering Alumni awards,
social, and board member recruitment. The REA board welcomes
inquiries from engineering alumni interested in serving on
the board and taking an active role in furthering its goals.
Please visit the REA website for more information.
