Career Services Internships &
Recruiting
How many Rice alumni and students
work at your organization? Could there be more? If you know
of employment opportunities or internships in your company
or career field, the Rice Career Services center wants to
hear from you! Perhaps you're in a position to hire, or can
help Rice set up a closer working relationship with your company.
Email the Rice Career Services Center to help pave the way for the next generation of Rice alumni.

Leadership
Rice
Be a mentor as part of Leadership
Rice's Summer Mentorship Experience or help
identify great mentorship opportunities. Leadership Rice serves
students from all years and all majors, and seeks a wide array
of placements both nationally and internationally. Each student
chosen to participate in Leadership Rice is placed in a full-time,
paying, eight-week mentorship. What distinguishes Leadership
Rice mentorships from other internships is the preparation
Leadership Rice provides, the ongoing contact Leadership Rice
maintains with its students during the summer, and the presence
of a mentor who commits to help the student stretch and grow
during the summer.
In addition, Leadership Rice students,
from time to time, need mentors in
specific content areas. Those working on Envision
Grants need community mentors to help them develop strategic
plans. Students in our leadership
course who write Strategic Vision Papers also need contact
with community resources.
Our Web
site provides more detail, including specific
information about the mentorship experience.

Regional
Alumni Groups
Help alumni and friends outside of
Houston to stay connected to Rice through regional alumni
activities! The alumni office facilitates alumni gatherings
in major cities throughout the U.S. (and occasionally beyond),
and is always in need of regional volunteers and event ideas.
Events typically include student send-off parties, faculty
lectures, happy hours, networking mixers, gatherings related
to Rice athletics events, picnics, museum outings or other
cultural activities - anything that is likely to appeal to
and facilitate interaction among our far-flung alumni and
Rice parents. Volunteer opportunities include coordinating
a single event (with alumni staff assistance), hosting an
event in your home, offering access to a private club or corporate
venue, serving as a city contact for Rice alums who may be
new to your area, or (in cities with very large Rice populations)
heading up a special-interest group (for example, happy hour,
book club, or investment club). Visit the Regional
Alumni Groups Web site for more information and a list
of contacts in various cities.

RAVA
(Rice Alumni Volunteers for Admission)
Admission volunteers help spread
the word about Rice by talking to students across the U.S.
and around the world. These volunteers provide an invaluable
service, giving students an "inside" view of life
at Rice through their own experiences and ongoing knowledge
of Rice. RAVA members act as alumni interviewers, occasionally
represent Rice at college fairs, and generally help answer
questions from high school students in their communities.
For more information and to volunteer, please visit the RAVA
web page.
