Frequently Asked Questions
The online registration form says “Rice Alumni” but I have never attended Rice University. Where do I register?
Because Families Weekend is sponsored by the Association of Rice Alumni, the registration system asks for alumni information. All families and guests are welcome to this event, and you may still complete the registration form without filling in fields that do not apply to you.
How do I update my family's registration?
If you would like to add events to your registration, please do not create a new registration. We ask that you email firstname.lastname@example.org
with any registration modifications needed, as well as a contact telephone number for us to reach you. Unfortunately, the system does not consolidate registrations from the same user, but rather creates an entirely separate registration. As such, emailing requested changes instead will ensure the best registration and check-in experience possible for you and your guests.
How long will it take to receive confirmation of my registration changes?
Please allow 3-5 business days for us to process these changes to your registration. Once the modifications have been processed, you will receive a confirmation email. Registration changes will be accepted through the registration deadline of Friday, October 5, 2018 at noon (CDT).
Do I need to register my student for the Annual Family Picnic?
Yes, your student will need to be registered for the Annual Family Picnic in order to attend the event and receive a meal ticket. You may purchase your student’s Annual Family Picnic registration along with your own registration. Please note: Your student will not need to purchase a ticket to the football game as they will be able to enter free with their student ID.
The football game ticket I received has an assigned seat on it. Will I be able to sit with my student in the student sections of the stadium?
Your ticket will grant you access to sit anywhere within the student sections (115–116), which will be open seating for families and students to sit together. With a large turnout expected for the game, parent/guest tickets in the student section are limited, so make sure to reserve yours quickly to guarantee your spot.
How do I purchase additional football game tickets if I’ve already registered online?
to purchase additional Rice football game tickets for the Oct. 13 game vs. UAB, taking place at noon (CDT). Please note that any tickets you purchased as part of your Families Weekend registration will be available at Registration Headquarters in Farnsworth Pavilion.
Do I need to purchase a ticket for my child for the Annual Family Picnic or football game?
For the Annual Family Picnic, children 4 and under do not need a ticket, and are admitted free of charge. The Child Ticket is for ages 5-12 years old. For the Rice football game, any child 3 years and older will need a ticket for entry into Rice Stadium.
Why can’t I register my guest?
You must select “Attendee Description” first. You can find the Attendee Description directly under the line that says “You may add up to 30 guests for this event.” Simply choose “Alumni & Guests” from the dropdown menu. Next, enter your guest’s first and last name. These are the only fields you are required to fill out. Finally, click the green button at the top or bottom of the screen that says “Save this guest.”
Where can I park?
