- What part of serving on the ARA Board are you most excited about?
-
It's an incredible privilege to give back to a place that had such a profound impact on my life. I'm excited to connect with fellow alumni across generations, building meaningful connections that bridge our post-Rice experiences and inspire greater alumni engagement — especially from those who may no longer be near Houston.
- What is your favorite “Only at Rice” memory or story?
-
My senior year, I had the rare opportunity to have lunch with President Gillis in the Hanszen Commons. For an hour, the leader of the university sat with students, answering our questions — ranging from the profound to the downright trivial — with humor, honesty and surprising transparency. What stood out most was how candid and genuine he was, especially in a setting where you'd expect polished, guarded responses. He didn’t have to be there, but he chose to spend a meaningful hour with us. That kind of presence and accessibility — I just can’t imagine at many other universities.
- If you could give one piece of advice to Rice students, what would it be?
-
Raise your hand. Rice offers countless opportunities to contribute, participate and lead — and there’s no reason to hesitate. Step into experiences, whether they feel like second nature or push you far outside your comfort zone. With the unique support and trust that Rice provides, there’s no better time to take risks and grow from them.
