What inspires you to remain so engaged with Rice?
The students! As an alumni Associate at Lovett College, I am constantly inspired by how amazing the students are. They are passionate, engaged and it makes me want to ensure that Rice is a place that encourages this culture for years to come.
How have you evolved in your Rice journey since receiving the award?
As I’ve moved into more leadership/managerial roles, I’ve definitely been able to utilize a lot of the skills that I developed as an alumni volunteer leader. Understanding how to guide teams and accomplish goals has been invaluable in my professional life.
Kate’s advice:
Stay involved! The Rice alumni community is incredible. Make connections, ask for professional advice – I’ve found that Rice alums are sincere in wanting to help other Rice alums. Sallyportal is a great resource!
What’s next for you?
I plan to remain an engaged Lovett Associate and volunteer for my class’s annual giving committee, and you’ll definitely see me cheering on the Rice Owls at tennis matches and basketball games.
