This immersive journey through Egypt begins in Cairo with a guided visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum, the world’s largest archaeological museum, dramatically positioned near the Giza Pyramids. Home to more than 100,000 artifacts spanning 700,000 years, the museum showcases the complete collection from Tutankhamun’s tomb and Khufu’s magnificent Solar Boat. The following day, we explore the Giza Plateau, standing before the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx, before continuing to Old Cairo to visit revered Coptic churches and the historic Ben Ezra Synagogue. An early flight takes us south to Aswan and onward to Abu Simbel, where colossal temples of Ramses II—rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser—stand as one of Egypt’s most astonishing achievements. A multi-day Lake Nasser cruise reveals Nubia’s legacy at sites including Kasr Ibrim, Amada, Wadi el-Seboua, and Kalabsha, highlighting ancient temples painstakingly relocated stone by stone. We visit the Aswan High Dam and the beautifully reconstructed Temples of Philae before boarding our Nile cruise ship. Sailing north, we explore Kom Ombo’s double temple and the remarkably preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu, arriving in Luxor for in-depth touring. Highlights include the Valley of the Kings and Queens, the Temple of Hatshepsut, Karnak, and Luxor Temple. After visiting the Luxor Museum, we return to Cairo to explore Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, the Citadel of Saladin, and Egypt’s ancient capital at Memphis and Sakkara, home to the Step Pyramid—bringing our extraordinary journey through Egypt’s civilizations to a memorable close. Discover fabled Petra, ancient Jerash, and Amman with an optional 5-day/4-night post-tour Jordan extension.
