What part of serving on the ARA Board are you most excited about?

I am most excited about the opportunity to work more directly with Rice University administration and other alumni volunteers. Serving on the ARA Board will provide firsthand communications about the university’s strategic priorities and plans from administration leadership. I also look forward to developing stronger relationships with the Alumni Relations team and connecting with fellow active alumni who share a passion for Rice.

What is your favorite “Only at Rice” memory or story?

Traversing the steam tunnels during O-week is a memory that remains as vivid as the day it happened. I'm not sure if students continue to find ways into the tunnels today, but it was a fun tradition 20 years ago!

If you could give one piece of advice to Rice students, what would it be?

Challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone and embrace new experiences. College is a unique time to explore your interests, discover your strengths, and learn from your failures. Take advantage of the opportunity to try a wide variety of activities, organizations, and pursuits, even those you never imagined yourself enjoying. As you learn more about yourself, be intentional about where you invest your time and energy so you can make the most meaningful impact and derive the greatest fulfillment from your college experience.
