Siyu (Kalian) Shi ’17, a medical student at Stanford, is pursuing her dream to impact global health. During her time at Rice, Shi was involved in the Rice Global Health Technologies program where she learned to innovate at the juncture of science and engineering.

When Rachael Morris ’12 was accepted into the Teach for America program during her senior year at Rice, it was a turning point in her life. “Originally, I wanted to go to medical school,” she recalls, “but something within me told me my calling was elsewhere.”

Sara LeMesh (Brown '12) is an opera singer turned tech entrepreneur. After graduating from Rice’s Shepherd School of Music, she pursued her master’s degree with soprano Dawn Upshaw and went on to sing with the San Francisco Opera Chorus in her hometown. In California, she started working in sales at a consultancy while continuing to sing at prestigious events part-time.
