Get to Know Brandi

What part of serving on the ARA Board are you most excited about?

I am most excited to represent fellow alumni from the Chicago and midwest area and to further connect the alumni community outside of Houston. I am thrilled when I encounter a Rice alumni so far from campus and want to enable the occasion more often! The chance to offer a variety of programming to alumni in the region is a great honor and a wonderful way to continue our Rice experience "beyond the hedges."

What is your favorite “Only at Rice” memory or story?

My best "only at Rice" memory surrounds me every day when I consider that I met my husband and best friends all from Rice (and most from Brown College!). Literally, my family was seeded during my freshmen year and today is a strong tight knit group of people who I love dearly and talk to every day. Only at Rice can your randomly-selected roommate, the folks on your hall and the guy you met a party become your family!

If you could give one piece of advice to Rice students, what would it be?

Try a variety of experiences and get uncomfortable trying those experiences. Let those experiences shape your interests and opinions and convictions. Share experiences with others. Rinse and repeat.
