Joe Eletto '13 is showing others the power and versatility of a Rice degree with a career spanning music and technology. He earned his bachelor of music at the Shepherd School, continuing on to the Juilliard School for his master’s. One of his undergraduate music accomplishments was singing on a Grammy award-winning record for the Shepherd School of Music with the Houston Symphony in 2013.
Eletto began his professional career by joining the Young Artist circuit and making his Lincoln Center debut, singing with the New York City Ballet, which received positive recognition from the New York Times.
After his last residency, he returned to New York and entered into the tech industry, first working at Google in recruiting and later joining Jet.com in their newly-formed category specialist role to manage smart home products. During this time, he became a member of Out in Tech, a non-profit uniting the LGBTQ+ tech community. He now is the head of the New York chapter, overseeing 10,000-plus members.
This year, Eletto was selected to run the SALT Conference, the preeminent meeting of the alternative investment community. The conference was founded in 2009 by Anthony Scaramucci, the former White House communications director, and has hosted former presidents, foreign heads of state and other public figures. Eletto is currently planning the 10th anniversary of the SALT Conference, being held in May 2019 in Las Vegas.
