Rice Day of Service

Rice Day of Service, scheduled on and around April 23, will unite our community and give you the opportunity to impact your own. Making friends while making a difference —what could be better?

Team up with Owls in your area and participate in a volunteer project that benefits a local nonprofit, from organizing toy drives to volunteering with an animal shelter. While a few cities have already kicked off planning efforts, we need your help to bring Rice Day of Service to Owls everywhere.

Can't join us at one of the in-person events? No worries! There are options to contribute at your convenience from anywhere in the world.

  • Online giving is a straightforward, secure way to invest in Rice’s future. Your generosity enables our students, faculty and staff to do what they do best — pursue learning, advance discovery and sustain our world.
  • Write a letter to a graduate of the class of 2022 to welcome them to the alumni community. The letters will be given to the graduates at the New Alumni Block Party. You can email us your letter and we'll print a card on your behalf. Or you can mail your letter to:

What is Rice Day of Service?

Rice Day of Service is a new endeavor from the Association of Rice Alumni. Our goal is to unite the global Rice community by giving you the opportunity to impact your local community. Owls in cities around the world are teaming up in a spirit of service and participating in a wide variety of volunteer projects, from working with Habitat for Humanity to organizing toy drives. If an Owl’s pursuit is to give a hoot, give a hoot with us!

I don’t see an event in my city. Can I host one?
