General FAQ

Do I need to register in advance for Alumni Weekend?

Many Alumni Weekend events are free and first come, first served. We encourage you to register in advance, even for free events, so we can plan accordingly and provide the best experience for everyone. And remember, Alumni Weekend packages are available for purchase through the week of the event, so register early to take advantage of discounted package pricing and score your exclusive Rice swag, too!

Walk-up registration is available at Headquarters, located in the Flex Studio of Moody Center for the Arts. Prices increase for walk-up registrants. If you register in advance, please note that Nov. 9 is the deadline to cancel your registration and receive a refund.

Please also note that walk-up registration is cashless. We accept credit and debit cards only; Apple Pay and Venmo are not accepted.

Where do I check in for Alumni Weekend?

Whether you purchased an Alumni Weekend package, are attending a ticketed event or are only participating in free programs, we ask all alumni and guests returning to campus to stop by Alumni Weekend Headquarters to check in. It only takes a moment and helps us welcome you to the weekend! Alumni Weekend Headquarters is located in the Flex Studio of Moody Center for the Arts. Stop by during the hours noted below.

Pick up your name badge, enjoy a cup of coffee and stop by with any questions or registration updates. Your badge is your pass to faculty lectures, the Town Hall, the Beer Garden and more. Don’t forget to snap a photo, grab some Rice swag and design your own coaster with the book press. Outside on the patio, browse historic Rice artifacts and images and view campus maps tracing Rice’s development over the years.

Is parking available on campus during Alumni Weekend?

Free parking is available in West Lot 4 and Greenbriar Lot. You will need to show the gate attendant your Alumni Weekend badge for entry.

Valet parking is available at the following events:

• Golden R Luncheon
• Golden (50th) Reunion
• Platinum Reunion

What does the Alumni Weekend Tailgate and Family Fest price include?

Price includes a delicious BBQ lunch plate, desserts, water, tea and lemonade, and two drink tickets for soda, wine or beer. Vegetarian options are available. Enjoy lawn games and activities for all ages.

Will in-person events be canceled if it rains during Alumni Weekend?

Rain or shine, all in-person events will continue. Please dress appropriately for the weather and event occasion.

Can alumni visit the residential colleges during Alumni Weekend?

Based on Rice’s interpretation of FERPA, alumni are asked not to visit inside the colleges before, during or after the event.

Will there be activities for children at Alumni Weekend?

Children of all ages are welcome at Alumni Weekend! The Alumni Weekend Tailgate and Family Fest on Saturday, Nov. 14, will feature family-friendly games and activities. Also on Saturday, the Brick by Brick event gives Owls of all ages the opportunity to build a campus squirrel with brick kit designer Tim Howell ’92, ’94.

Where do I purchase tickets to the Rice football game during Alumni Weekend?

Football tickets can be purchased via the Alumni Weekend + Rice vs. Tulane Football Game ticket package until Monday, Nov. 9. Rice alumni and friends may also purchase their tickets via this link.

Digital tickets are also available through Rice Athletics until game day or at the box office. Children 2 and under do not require a ticket. Tickets will be delivered via Rice Athletics, and purchasers will receive an email notification when their tickets are available in their account.

Can I purchase an Alumni Weekend T-shirt?

Yes! You can order your very own Alumni Weekend 2026 T-shirt online. Order by Oct. 23 to receive your shirt in time for Alumni Weekend. Shirts are available online only and cannot be purchased in person. The final deadline to order is Nov. 30.

Why do some Alumni Weekend events require a separate registration?

In addition to the featured Alumni Weekend programming, many schools, organizations and residential colleges across campus host their own events to enhance the experience. Some of these activities require separate registrations to help organizers plan accordingly, but all are part of what make Alumni Weekend an Owlsome success.

If your class year ends in 1 or 6, get ready to celebrate your reunion!

If you need help navigating around campus, use maps.rice.edu to get you where you need to go!

There will also be printed maps available at Headquarters, located in the Flex Studio of Moody Center for the Arts (Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon).

Transportation

Visitors to campus have access to Rice’s shuttle system that circles the university’s inner loop and connect Rice Stadium, the Annex Building, Graduate Apartments on Bissonnet and Rice Village Apartments to the rest of campus. Explore available shuttles and specific routes.
