Rice Alumni affinity groups are formed around shared identities, interests or professional paths. These groups offer opportunities for meaningful engagement, networking and celebration within the Rice community. Supported by the Office of Alumni Relations, many groups host events and programs throughout the year.

The Association of Rice University Black Alumni (ARUBA)

The Association of Rice University Black Alumni (ARUBA) provides opportunities for Rice's Black alumni, students, parents, faculty and staff to fortify relationships and develop new connections with each other and with the Rice community. We strive to stimulate intellectual and social participation, encourage contributions to the university's ongoing efforts to enhance diversity and strengthen the bond of understanding between the university and its Black alumni community.

Rice Alumni Pride (RAP)

Rice Alumni Pride (RAP) is Rice's unified group for all gender and sexually diverse alumni and allies, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex alumni. RAP supports and promotes the interests of Rice University and its alumni with an emphasis on issues specific to the LGBTQIA community. Membership is open to Rice alumni and ally friends.

The Rice University Community of Asian Alumni (RUCAA, pronounced ruh-kah) seeks to build community among all Rice Asian alumni, international and American-born, undergraduate and graduate, Hapa and Asian by association. RUCAA supports member involvement in Rice affairs, promotes personal and professional development and advocates for Asian issues at Rice and in the greater Houston community.

The mission of the Society of Latino Alumni of Rice (SOLAR) is to coordinate the efforts of Latinx alumni to increase opportunities for Rice community members to connect, learn and serve. Our vision is to develop engaged participants ready to serve and lead our communities as visible Latinx alumni. We look forward to creating spaces to celebrate and learn about our diverse Latinx culture within an inclusive community and professional network.

The Society of Rice University Women and Friends (SRUW), established in 1968, aims to promote a continuing and effective dialogue between the university and its members. Originally formed as an alumnae group, SRUW is now open to all: male and female, alumni and non-alumni friends of Rice.

Formed in 1938, Rice Engineering Alumni (REA) is the oldest alumni organization at Rice and is dedicated to providing support to the George R. Brown School of Engineering. All graduates of the nine departments of the George R. Brown School of Engineering are automatically members of REA.
