Arturo Herrera III ’13 is an “up and comer” in the field of healthcare administration, earning recognition for his service and leadership.

After graduating from Rice University in 2013, he attended Trinity University on a full-tuition scholarship to receive a master’s degree in healthcare administration. He was chosen from a cohort of 40 graduate students to complete a one-year residency with Methodist Health System in Dallas, where he was promoted from administrative resident to director of physician development. In this role, Herrera served as the liaison between physicians and the hospital president to address operational concerns, strategize business development opportunities and communicate process improvement initiatives.

Herrera is now the director of neuroscience/orthopedics and physician development for Methodist Dallas Medical Center, a 585-bed, level 1 trauma hospital in Dallas. He works to lead the strategic and operational initiatives for the neuroscience and orthopedic service lines. He is improving patient care by implementing quality initiatives that are data-driven and developed in partnership with physician leaders. Herrera is an active member in the hospital’s committees, including Intentional Inclusion and Diversity and Employee Giving. In 2016, Art received the “Performance and Service Excellence Award” from Methodist Health System for his willingness to serve and lead.

Herrera’s involvement goes beyond the hospital. He currently participates on the Bishop Dunne Catholic School Board of Directors. He was an active member of the Lakewest Family YMCA Board of Managers from 2015–2017. In 2017, Herrera was recognized by D CEO Magazine as a finalist for the Latino “Up and Comer” business award.
