COVID-19 Policy and Visitor Questions

All visitors to campus during Owl Together must abide by Rice’s COVID-19 Campus Safety Policy, including the mask wearing requirements in place at the time of Owl Together. Stay up to date with the latest campus COVID-19 policies at coronavirus.rice.edu/policies. We encourage all visitors to complete a COVID-19 self-assessment before coming to campus. Please do not attend any in-person events if the recommendation is to stay at home or seek medical attention.

Will proof of vaccination be required?

No, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test is not required to attend.

Will attendees be required to wear masks?

All on-campus events during Owl Together will follow local and university health guidelines. For the safety of the Rice community, masks are required for all indoor events. Outdoor events will not require masks. Please see coronavirus.rice.edu/policies for the most up-to-date information.

What if I forget my face mask?

Complimentary face masks will be available.

I’m not comfortable traveling yet. How can I participate?

There will be virtual events for the entire Rice community to attend Oct. 25-28. Tune in for social hours, faculty lectures and more. See a full schedule.

Why should I register early?

Due to university COVID-19 protocols, we strongly request you to register early to help our staff better prepare for your arrival on campus and ensure Owl Together remains a safe way for alumni, families and friends to connect. Advance registration also benefits you as prices increase for walk-up registrants. See pricing information for more details.

Do I still have to register if I only plan to attend virtual events?

Yes, even though virtual events are free, registration is required for all online events. You will receive Zoom links in your confirmation email.

Where do I check-in for on-campus events?

We strongly recommend guests check-in at Owl Together Headquarters prior to their first event to pick up name badges, campus maps and gift bags. Locations and times are outlined below.

Friday
8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Grand Hall, Rice Memorial Center
6:00 to 9:30 p.m., Dean’s Commons, Anderson-Clarke Center

Saturday
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Grand Hall, Rice Memorial Center

Where can I park on campus?

On Friday, Oct. 29, free parking is available to the public in West Lots 3 and 4. On Saturday, Oct. 30, a name badge is required to park in all West Lots. Guests can pick up name badges at Owl Together Headquarters. Locations and hours are listed above.

Guests who need to pick up name badges on Saturday can park for up to 15 minutes in the circle drive. Once you receive your name badge, you can move your car to the West Lots.

Will in-person events be canceled if it rains?

Rain or shine, all in-person events will continue. Please dress appropriately for the weather and event occasion.

Can I still come if I forget to register?

Yes, walk ups are accepted. However, prices increase for certain events, including the All-Reunion Lawn Party and the Owl Together Tailgate and Family Picnic. See pricing information for more details.

What does the Owl Together Tailgate and Family Picnic price include?

Price includes BBQ plate and unlimited water, tea and lemonade. Sodas, wine and beer will be available for purchase. Activities include lawn games for all and a giant slide and obstacle course for children. Please note: Price does NOT include tickets to the Rice football game. Parents of Rice students can purchase tickets in the student section (sections 115 and 116) for $20. Alumni can purchase discounted general admission tickets in section 102 for $25. Will there be activities for children?

Children of all ages are welcome to attend Owl Together! The Owl Together Tailgate and Family Picnic on Saturday, Oct. 30, will feature family-friendly games and activities.

Where do I purchase tickets to the Rice football game?

Your ticket to the Owl Together Tailgate and Family Picnic on Oct. 30 does not include attendance to the Rice football game. Alumni and parents can purchase tickets separately via the Rice Athletics ticket office. Parents and families can sit with their students in sections 115 and 116 with a general admission ticket for $20. Purchase here. Reunion Information

What classes are celebrating a reunion?

Our 2020 and 2021 reunion classes will be honored this year during Owl Together. If your class year ends in 0, 1, 5 or 6, then you are celebrating a reunion. The only exceptions are the Classes of 2015 and 2016, who will be celebrating during Beer Bike in the spring.

What does the All-Reunion Lawn Party price include?

Attendees will receive one food ticket and two drink tickets, with the option to purchase more items directly from vendors at the event. Register by Sunday, Oct. 24, to receive an additional drink ticket.

What is the dress code for the All-Reunion Lawn Party?

There is no dress code for this year’s reunion celebration. The All-Reunion Lawn Party will be outdoors and under a large, shaded tent. Please consider how weather conditions and walking distances will affect your comfort, health and safety. Please dress accordingly.

Will there be a special section for my reunion year at the All-Reunion Lawn Party?

Yes, there will be designated, ADA-accessible sections for each reunion year. Guests are also encouraged to move about and mingle with Owls outside of their reunion year.
